Format Descriptions

Plenary Lectures
Plenary lecturers present 45 minute talks at the end of the morning meetings, each day of the Congress. These speakers are chosen in recognition of their exceptional achievements in either basic or clinical research and the talks will include material of interest to both basic science and clinical audiences.

Meet-the-Expert-Sessions
An internationally known expert discusses specific topics with the audience during these interactive daily 45 minutes sessions. This format provides substantial audience participation and should be highly interactive.

Pro-Con-Debates
During the daily 90 minutes debates current controversial issues will be introduced and discussed. One moderator and two discussants (pro and con) will raise interactive and lively debates.

Scientific Symposia
Symposia of two-hours duration cover latest advances in basic and clinical neuropsychopharmacology, biological psychiatry, drug development, public policy issues relevant to the field, mental health, mental illness and treatment
outcome.
 
Educational Symposia
Educational Symposia of 120 minutes will provide state-of-the-art summaries with emphasis on new information relevant for clinical practice. The best instructors on specific topics are brought together to teach highly important topics.
 
Interactive Scientific Symposia

Interactive scientific symposia are sessions which typically involve presentations from individual panel members, followed by the opportunity for lively and informative discussion. This format provides substantial audience participation and should be highly interactive.
 

Educational Workshops
These highly interactive sessions will be of 90 minutes focussing on a continuous dialogue between the participants and the presenters. There will be educational updates discussing different aspects of new information relevant for clinical practice. It is intended to present highly interactive components of the educational update sessions.

Poster Sessions
Poster sessions will be held Monday 14 July to Wednesday 16 July 2008. They will be held in conjunction with a wine and cheese mixer from 18:00 to 19:30h. These sessions offer an effective forum for the exchange of  information and a means to communicate ideas, research, and programs. Posters will be grouped by topics for the convenience of those attending the sessions. Poster authors will present and discuss their results in these highly interactive sessions.

Workshops
During Workshops leading experts in a specific field of research hold discussions with the attendees. These meetings are aimed at a specific, interactive, and limited audience.
 
Industry-Sponsored Satellite Symposia
Satellite Symposia will be organised by pharmaceutical companies in consultation with the International Scientific Programme Committee and presented during the congress. Breakfast Symposia are scheduled for 60 minutes, Lunch and Evening Symposia for 90 minutes.
